TEQSA links international student growth to integrity performance

Australia’s higher education regulator TEQSA has warned providers seeking to grow international student capacity that they should first address elevated visa refusal rates and student attrition.

TEQSA also flagged concerns about non-commencement, PRISMS reporting quality, and education-agent oversight — including practices around onshore transfers and commission rules.

Providers diversifying or expanding are expected to show effective recruitment, admission, and student-support risk controls before capacity increases are approved.
